Pilates Classes
Pilates is a wonderful movement discipline, and benefits our bodies on so many levels. For example it is an effective exercise for helping with core stability and strength, it can improve posture and body awareness and when taught appropriately can help with back pain.
If you are new to Pilates then you will be taught what are called the basic principles of Pilates, this means that your first few classes may feel a little slow while you learn how to apply the fundamentals of Pilates to your body as you move. Hang in there, I promise you it is time well spent in the long run.
It is perfectly normal for it to take a number of classes for body positioning and core to feel natural, but that is ok, everyone is like that starting out. The most important thing is that you are taught well so you can really understand what you are trying to do. After that, well it is just practice and consistency.
My classes are usually a mixture of people with varied expectations and Pilates being the smart exercise that it is can usually accommodate most of them. I am always happy to welcome people of all ages and ability into my class. Age and fitness levels are not a barrier to doing Pilates, in fact, the opposite may be the case – Pilates may be just what you need.
In other words, my classes are filled with ordinary people, who hope through Pilates to improve their health and well-being.
On a personal note, it is important that I keep my classes small, I accept up to a maximum of 8 people per class. This small number enables me to give greater attention to each participant and to how well they are performing each movement. Everyone deserves a high standard of teaching and small classes allow me to be the best I can be for everyone who sits on a mat in my class.
If you are thinking of joining a Pilates class, but have a few questions to ask before signing up for a course, then I hope that you can find some answers here on my website or through my blog content, which deals with the various aspects of Pilates.
